Full Meaning Of GOOGLE, CAPTCHA, Wi-Fi, RSVP, RADAR, CCTV, ATM, POS And Other Acronyms We Use Daily

Everyday in our daily life we mention, see and come in contact with some items or things which we don't know their full meaning.

Having realized that, I have compiled more than 10 common acronyms and their full meaning for my esteemed readers.

I would have liked to define what an acronym is but my mind keeps telling me not to do that because it might be kind of embarrassing to my intellectual readers whom I believe already the definition of acronym.

Here are the compiled acronyms that we use, see, and come in contact with everyday.

 1. GOOGLE: You might have been thinking that GOOGLE is a word on its own but it's not; it's an acronym for the Global Organization Of Oriented Group Language Of Earth.

 2. CAPTCHA: Surfers of the internet will be very familiar with this. It's used on websites that identify bots. CAPTCHA is an acronym for Completely Automated Public Turing test to Tell Computers and Human Apart.

 3. Wi-Fi: This is used by many individuals and businesses everyday, but do you its full meaning? Wi-Fi simply means Wireless Fidelity. Wi-Fi is used to connect to a router or other access point which in turn provides internet access.

 4. RSVP: We often see RSVP written on wedding invitations. RSVP does not mean rice and stew very plenty. RSVP is an acronym for Répondez S'il Vous Plaît, meaning "please respond".

 5. RADAR: RADAR is an acronym for Radio Detection and Ranging. Many video games players usually mention RADAR without knowing its full meaning.

 6. POS: This is one of the most common among us today. Almost every household make use of POS everyday. POS is an acronym for Point of Sale System.

 7. ATM: Another common one similar to POS. ATM can be seen everywhere in the country. ATM is an acronym for Automated Teller Machine. Please stop saying ATM machine, it's wrong because you are wrongly saying automated teller machine machine.

 6. DVD: This is used in every household, too. DVD is an acronym for Digital Video Disk.

 7. IQ: IQ is an acronym for Intelligence Quotient. It encompasses an individual's level of logical reasoning.

 8. N.B.: Writers often state this in their articles. It does not mean note below. N.B. is an acronym for a French term "nota bene" meaning note well.

 9. MTN: The giant Telecom company. MTN does not stand for mobile telecommunication network. MTN is an acronym for Mobile Telephone Network.

10. KPMG: It's amazing to see people working in KPMG (audit firm) but do not know the full meaning of their company's name. KPMG is an acronym for Klynveld, Peat, Marwick and Goerdeler. These are names of the founding partners.

11. CCTV: CCTV is an acronym for Closed Circuit Television. It is everywhere nowadays.
